Bel Paese Cheese Review
May 22nd, '06

Bel Paese is a modern processed cheese. Some sources say it's similar to the rubbery mozzarella you get from the mega-mart. And the sample we got would support that.

It was very good. A bit creamier than processed mozzarella, and perhaps a bit tangier. I used it in my four cheese mac & cheese (mainly because I feel mac & cheese really requires some processed stuff.

We got some from iGourmet which was described as being made in the US, but I have no idea who made it. The wedge we received had a nice wax covering, but it somehow managed to miss the brand. At any rate, perhaps the Italian variety has less of a "cheese food" character, but I doubt it.

The cat decided it wasn't food and completely ignored it.
