Edam Cheese ReviewMay 4th, '06
With all the other flavorful cheeses we've tried lately, Edam was rather bland. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just that when you have several pounds of cheese to work your way through, including some stinky cheeses and lots of blues, a mild little cracker cheese like factory produced Edam isn't going to get much attention.
Which makes me wonder. If I were to track down some of the pricier "authentic" Edam out there, would it still be bland and boring? I guess we'll have to find out someday. Or, since my wife is on a quest for documentation of her theory that stinky cheese isn't suppose to actually be eaten, perhaps we'll be going the other way and eating more of the bland varieties.
At any rate, Edam tasted as one would expect - cheesy.
